Spencer George WALLIS, son of George WALLIS (c. 1830-c. 1893) and Louisa BOGGIS (c. 1845-c. 1919), was born circa 1884 in South Lopham, Norfolk. He was baptised on 6 July 1884 in South Lopham. Spencer was attested into the military on 12 May 1902 - No. 3 Battalion Royal Field Artillery Depot, Gunner, serv. no. 23297. Stated that he was in the 3rd Battlion Norfolk Regiment prior to this. On 13 May 1910 he was transferred to the Army Reserve. The last date mentioned in his service record was 15.04.1913 which said he was “absent”, by which time he was in Australia. On 20 December 1912 Spencer left London and travelled to Freemantle, Australia aboard the “Gothic”. On 21 April 1914 his wife Mary and children Ruth and Marjorie followed him on board the “Armadale”. In 1916 Spencer and Mary appeared on the 1916 Freemantle electoral roll living at Wood Street, Osborne. Spencer died on 30 January 1924. He was buried 1n in 1924 in The West Terrace Cemetery in Adelaide, South Australia.
